Admittedly I don’t make it east, taking the God approach to relationships.

If they want to love me and talk to me they shouldn’t have to be forced into doing so.

They should want to.

So today I  had an occasion to briefly visit with my daughter-in-law. Present was her 4 year old daughter, my granddaughter.

My daughter-in-law was encouraging her progeny to talk to me, or at least acknowledge my presence.

No luck. The wee one chose only to look at her mother.

I waved good-bye and left.

I got a few blocks away and remembered I needed to give my daughter-in-law $40 I owed.

I returned and presented myself at the front door and rang the bell.

Once again the previous scene replayed itself.

I hit on a plan.

“Hi”, says I to this pint sized cutey, bending to get closer, “If I pay you will you talk to me?”

My granddaughter readily nodded her head and at that moment I produced a $20 bill. It fit easily in her small hand.

“Tell me hi”. She replied, “Hi.”

Wow this is going great. Perhaps the other hand needs filling.

Let’s try again.

I produced a second $20 dollar bill.

“Now say, ‘I love you grandpa’ ”

“Love you”, she said almost imperceptably.

Hmm…

You really can’t purchase true affection. It is freely given.

However, until that time…

As I walked away two thoughts crossed my mind.

Maybe a quarter next time. :0)

(Actually I hadn’t thought of this part) Good luck to my daughter-in-law getting that $40.

So, let’s do the math. Declaration of Independence (DOI) signed 1776.
Abraham Lincoln born 1809.
Lincoln was born 33 years after the DOI was signed.

Now…

Assuming Ms. King is correct and Abraham Lincoln was present at the signing of the DOI (a signature yet to be revealed on this document) there can be only one explanation.

Talk about serious dog breath.

Turns out the man had diabetes.

Poor circulation to the extremities is a common challenge. This leads to tissue death.
So, why would the dog eat the toes?

Under fed perhaps?

The canine could not be reached for comment.
